Western European OTT TV episode and movie revenues will reach $48 billion in 2029; up from $31 billion in 2023. The UK will contribute $10 billion in 2029, Germany $9 billion, Italy $5 billion and France $7 billion.
A report by Digital TV Research revealed that 14 of the 18 countries are expected to see a decline in Pay TV subs as of 2029. However, IPTV is set to gain 1 million subscribers at this time.
This is the first time that the channel will have a presence in Western Europe, specifically in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland trough out the pay-tv operator Allente.
The number of households taking at least one subscription OTT service in Western Europe is set to surpass North America next year, with the UK and Germany driving much of this growth, according to Ampere Analysis.
Western European pay TV revenues will decline by nearly US$5 billion between 2022 and 2028 to US$22 billion, while in Eastern Europe the number of pay TV subscribers will fall by 8 million, according to Digital TV Research.
